Language ArtsHello! My name is Erin Fleming and I am beyond excited to be your child’s language arts teacher this year. I have over a decade of teaching experience in various subject areas and received my master’s several years ago in reading and writing instruction and dyslexia.
As I tell the students on the first day of school, I am grateful that I have a profession for which I love and feel passionate. Everyday, students will know that I am happy to see them, that I am excited and prepared to teach, and that I care about them tremendously. We often speak about my one and all-encompassing class rule of “Be Kind” which applies to others, ourselves, and how we treat the world. Please ask your child what the daily learning goals were and how he or she met them. It is important that students be active participants in the learning process and understand their roles as students. You will hear your child speak about activism units, community, play writing, Friday vocabulary quizzes, “at home” reading books, Duke, Mr. Terupt, poetry slams, personal narrative and memoir writing, argumentative essay writing, debates, TedTalks (his or her own) and much, much more! Every individual matters. Every individual has a role to play. Every individual makes a difference.--Jane Goodall |
